Key Pendant with Green and Yellow Conure Feathers

This pendant is made with recycled Conure parrot feathers and reclaimed jewelry. The feathers are a vibrant green with golden yellow to compliment the brass coloured key. The length of the pendant is 4.5 inches long.

This would be a great addition to fancy outfit for a night out, or to dress up for a casual day at work.

All our feathers are recycled from happy, healthy birds.

Bright Green Parrot Feather Earrings

These beautiful earrings are made from recycled parrot feathers from a Blue Fronted Amazon. They are a bright, nearly neon, green. They are just under 3.5 inches long.

These earrings would be great as an added splash of colour to a little black dress or to pump up a neon outfit.

Earring hooks are added upon purchase.

All feathers used in our products are recycled from happy, healthy birds.

When a fish loves a bird

I really enjoy doing animal-bird mash-ups. In this case a fish bird mash-up. This was a beautiful pendant I picked up during my travels in Asia and decided to give it wings, so to speak. The feathers are from a Macaw I believe, they came as a donations so I can’t quite be sure. It was snatched up early on at the 2013 VancouFur convention.

Peacock feather custom design

The pictures below are from a wedding I was a bridesmaid in, and to which I designed to hair pieces and earrings for the bridesmaids.

The colour scheme of the wedding was based around the peacock feather, so purple, green, and blue. When it came to the hair pieces and earrings for the bridesmaids, peacock feathers were the obvious choice. After some consultation the decision was made that simpler was better.

The earrings were a single peacock feather on a hook clasp. The hair pieces were also a single peacock feather with tiny black gems around the eye of the feather and as an added touch I placed a fleur de lis in the centre of each one. (The brides family was French-Canadian)

All of the bridesmaids wore the hair pieces, while only some opted for the earrings. I think the contrast was a great idea, especially since the bridesmaids were wearing two styles of dresses.

If you have a special occasion coming up that you would like a custom design for, get in touch with us through the contact page. We would love to hear from you!

VancouFur Convention

This weekend Parrotphernalia showcased our goods at the VancouFur Convention. It was a three day convention running from Friday March 1st to Sunday March 3rd for furry lovers and like minded friends.

I must admit when I first registered for the VancouFur Convention, I had not realized that it was in fact a furry convention. I assumed from the name that it was a fur trade show that would be selling and showcasing local fur and leather importers and products. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out otherwise.

Parrotphernalia had a table on Saturday, showing off our feathered accessories in Artist Alley. Although we were not in the main Dealers Den, we still had a lot of foot traffic coming through. We were happy to meet many new furry friends and customers, many of which had avian pets themselves. There was a lot of interest in our products and we spoke to a few furries about making custom designs for their characters.

All in all it was a great experience. We hope to return again next year and continue our partnership between the avian and furry community.

Here are a few snap shots from the convention.
